December 7, 2023 — In order to improve the efficiency and safety of nighttime loading and unloading operations, Hualien Port uses smart grid to integrate the terminal lighting equipment into the central control loop. Managers can meet the needs of on-site operations and control the light switches remotely (computer, tablet or mobile phone) in real time without the need for Arrive at the dock in person and operate manually, effectively saving time and reducing the fatigue of personnel.
Faced with the digital transformation of the port, Hualien Port began investing in the infrastructure construction of smart grids in 2015 under the development framework of the smart port upgrade plan. During the three-year infrastructure construction period, 25 docks, internal and external port connecting roads, and a total of 31 power receiving boxes were built to build the power backbone and optical fiber backbone of the entire port area.
After 2020, based on the completed infrastructure and management system, Hualien Port has successively invested manpower and material resources to develop the port’s smart application performance. For example, CCTV images can be transmitted back to the monitoring center in real time, allowing full control of the port operation dynamics. In addition to the terminal Lighting can also be controlled remotely through connected devices such as mobile phones, eliminating the need to arrive at the terminal for manual control. In addition, the port fire protection, toilet and power box temperatures are also equipped with alarm functions (returned via SMS or LINE Notify) for immediate notification. The monitoring center immediately dispatches personnel to check and report the processing situation, effectively improving the efficiency and safety of port operations.
Based on the smart grid infrastructure and management system, Hualien Port continues to cooperate with the development and upgrading of smart port policies and expands applications. In the future, it will continue to move towards the goal of smart ports.
