Operations Manager, Marine Terminal

Summary:  A major west coast terminal operator is seeking experienced marine operations professionals to oversee the day-to-day management of terminal, rail and vessel planning operations at the Long Beach facility.  He or she will ensure that manning, productivity, efficiency and all safety requirements are being met.

Location:  San Pedro Bay Ports Complex

Experience: Two to four years’ experience in marine terminal operations management experience.  Must be strong on vessel operations and a strong leader with excellent problem solving, analytical and communication skills.  Previous experience managing Longshore Labor (ILWU) is preferred.  The company will consider recent college graduates (preferably from a maritime academy) with excellent leadership and management experience and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or requisite experience.

Maritime Strategic Operations Manager, Port of Stockton

Summary:  Under general direction of the Director of Maritime Operations and within the framework of Port policies, procedures, and objectives, the Maritime Strategic Operations Manager is a transformational leader within the department who is responsible for displaying a high level of professionalism and accountability. The Maritime Strategic Operations Manager shall be highly proficient in effective change management, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, business processes, and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The technical responsibilities of this position involve managing all aspects related to the operation of the Port’s maritime facilities, including but not limited to vessel berth assignments, vessel cargo transfer operations, terminal operations, terminal space assignments, warehouse operations, and vendor management. In addition, the incumbent ensures safe, efficient loading, discharging, and storage of all cargoes per contracts, agreements, customer expectations, and applicable laws and regulations. This is an at-will position.

Location:  Stockton, CA

Experience Requirements: At least four years of progressively responsible professional experience involving operations, logistics, transportation, warehousing, and distribution, and/or supply chain management.  At least 2 years of experience must have been at the supervisory, and/or management level overseeing direct reports.  Experience within the maritime industry is preferred, and experience in a public agency setting is desirable.

Educational Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field required.

Compensation:  Salary range, $117-155K annually, plus excellent benefits package.
