May 24, 2022 — The Port of Skagit is pleased to welcome Chris Omdal as the new Harbormaster at the La Conner Marina.

Chris grew up in the Skagit Valley and attended schools in the Burlington-Edison School District.  His education and work experience include earning a Master’s degree in Marine Affairs from the University of Washington and a 20 year career in the U.S. Air Force.  During his service in the Air Force, he earned a Master’s degree in Logistics from the Air Force Institute of Technology before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Chris’s leadership and experience with public-private partnerships will be a great fit in his new role at the La Conner Marina.  With his background in marine services, Chris brings a breadth of working knowledge and skills to lead the complex operations of the marina.

As Harbormaster, Chris will be responsible for the daily operations of the La Conner Marina, marketing and budget development, office administration, and working with the hundreds of moorage tenants, visiting boaters, RV Park guests, and the Port’s business tenants within the marina.    The La Conner Marina has approximately 500 slips within two basins and a footprint of 24 acres of in-water and upland properties along the Swinomish Channel.  Chris will also play a key role in the redevelopment of the La Conner Marina, which is in the early stages of a feasibility study and visioning process to determine the best and highest use of the Port of Skagit’s maritime property.
