June 16, 2022 — The Port of San Diego has been named Best Cruise Port in the World in the 10th Annual Global Traveler Leisure Lifestyle Awards. 1. Port of San Diego
  2. Port Miami, Florida
  3. Port Canaveral, Florida
  4. Port Everglades, Florida
  5. Cozumel, Mexico
  6. Southampton, England
  7. Port of Los Angeles
  8. Philipsburg, St. Maarten
  9. New York, New York
  10. Venice, Italy

The winners were honored at a special reception on June 7, 2022 in New York City.

“We are honored to be voted the top cruise port in the world,” said Port of San Diego Board Chairman Dan Malcolm. “Cruise passengers going ashore in San Diego have so many options for exploration, discovery and delight within the immediate area of our cruise terminals. One can stroll or take a brief ride to many attractions such as the Maritime Museum of San Diego, chef-owned restaurants, and boutique shops. That, plus our perfect climate, provides a warm welcome and memorable experiences on our waterfront.”

The Port of San Diego’s two cruise ship terminals on B Street and Broadway Piers are located downtown, offering a seamless transition from the cruise ship to city attractions. San Diego’s Embarcadero is home to maritime and naval museums, epicurean delights, waterfront hotels, and panoramic views of the city skyline and San Diego Bay. Additionally, unique historic neighborhoods such as Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter offer international flavors and entertainment within minutes of the cruise terminals.

The Port of San Diego’s cruise business is seasonal, usually beginning in September and running through May. The Port welcomed approximately 100 cruises this season and anticipates over 130 for next season.

Primary lines that call on the Port of San Diego are Holland America Line, Disney Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line. Other cruise lines on the schedule include Regent Seven Seas, Viking Cruises, and Windstar Cruises.
