July 13, 2021 — The Port of Alaska (Municipality of Anchorage) has announced an opening for the position of Port Engineering Manager (Civil Engineer III). The position is open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
LOCATION: 2000 Anchorage Port Road
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Develop and oversee all aspects of the existing port’s infrastructure engineering requirements; direct the activities of port consultants and contractors; oversee port construction contracts, including multi-year engineering services contract; lead the port’s capital budget planning; develop and maintain an engineering project tracking system; lead the port’s capital grant-related application activities; oversee port GIS (Geographic Information Systems) activities. Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SUBSTITUTIONS / PREFERENCES
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
Substitution:
- A Master’s degree in Engineering may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.
Must possess a State of Alaska driver’s license at time of hire.
Must possess a State of Alaska Professional Engineering (PE) registration at time of hire.
