December 5, 2022 — The PortAlberni Port Authority is pleased to announce Kate Smith has been promoted to the newly developed position of Manager of Properties and Communications effective January 1,2023.
Kate has been with the Port Authority since June 2021 as the Administrative Operations Manager for our Dock+ Facilities. The rapid growth seen over the last 1.5 years at the Dock+ and Ice Plant are a tribute to Kate’s tireless effort and hands on approach to ensure these new facilities were well known in our community and across the Province. In doing so, Kate has provided Vancouver Island with a central Food Hub and top-grade Commercial Kitchen that enables and encourages local aquaculture and food processing, promotes and supports entrepreneurs and businesses, and ensures food sustainability for the Alberni Valley for years to come.
Kate has several years’ experience in communications, hospitality, and operational management and her new position will have her oversee public relations and community outreach for the Port Authority, as well as full management of the Port’s property and real estate portfolio.
