| APP PEOPLE: HUENEME COMMISSIONERS ELECTED | |
Two new candidates and
one current commissioner were elected as Port of
Hueneme/Oxnard Harbor District (California USA) Commissioners on
November 2nd:

Commissioner-elect Jason Hodge is
a Firefighter trained in fire protection, water rescue, terrorism
emergencies, hazardous materials emergencies, and major disaster
management. His specialization has been in emergency
logistics working throughout California as part of an emergency
response team. He has helped manage disasters with
costs exceeding 100 million dollars. He plans to focus
on increasing the port's economic output while decreasing the
environmental footprint, transitioning to shoreside power to help
reduce pollution and noise, create a plan that addresses local
street traffic without reducing the port's capacity, and
expand job opportunities for local residents by identifying
underutilized resources like the World Trade center and the free trade
zone.
Commissioner-elect Mary Anne Rooney
brings a strong and diverse business background. Currently,
she is a consultant for the Economic Development Collaborative
of Ventura County as a Program Director for the Global
Entrepreneur Training in Trade Program. She was
elected as a Trustee for the Ventura County Community College District
from 2002-2006 and was elected by her peers to the statewide California
Community College Trustee board. During this time, she was
an active advocate to increase funding and protect students' rights and
access to education, and provided local oversight for a $200
million budget operating budget and $356 million bond
project. Having more than 15 years of business
experience in public, private, and non-profit industries, she brings a
unique background and expertise in strategic planning, project
development, and marketing.
Current Commissioner Jess Herrera was also re-elected to a new term.
Congratulations to all three commissioners on your election -- and thank you to retiring Commissioners Ray Fosse and Michael Plinskey for your many years of dedicated service!
