Here are two examples of our excellent Seminar speakers:
Robert Johansen is Ports
and Marine Planning Director for AECOM, heading
teams performing master planning, conceptual design, and detailed
design of maritime and intermodal facilities globally. He has led teams using
simulation modeling to develop the "ship-in-a-slip" concept and
automated terminal design concepts for facilities such as the EUROMAX
terminal in Rotterdam. Bob is currently
managing the Ports America Outer Harbor Terminal development
project at the Port of Oakland, the first automated container terminal
on the west coast. He has
47 years experience in planning, design, project management, and
construction management, including designing container cranes at
PACECO, project controls for Bechtel Corp. and SOHIO Construction,
and running his own consulting business servicing maritime
and mining industries. Prior to becoming a partner
in JWD Group (which later merged into AECOM), he was Manager of
Facilities Engineering for American President Lines (APL), where
he was Project Manager for APL's Global Gateway Intermodal
Container Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles.
Sean Loughran
is the Port of Portland, Oregon USA's Senior Aviation
Planner. Sean has over 15 years of experience in land use,
transportation and park planning, property acquisition, and airport
management. Sean worked for the Port's Aviation Planning and
Development from 1996-1999 serving as senior staff on PDX Light
Rail, Ground Access Strategy, Commercial Transportation Providers
Facility, Horizon's Operations and Maintenance Center, and the Federal
Express Air Cargo Facility. He worked for the Oregon
Parks and Recreation Department for five years serving as State
Recreation Trails Coordinator and then for the City of
Vancouver, Washington as airport manager for two and one half years.

| APP PEOPLE: BELLINGHAM NAMES NEW DIRECTOR | |
Port of Bellingham, Washington USA Commissioners Jim Jorgensen, Michael McAuley, and Scott Walker recently appointed Charlie Sheldon
as the port's new executive director. Sheldon replaces Jim
Darling, who announced his resignation in 2009 to work as a vice
president and principal for a Northwest consulting firm.
Prior to
this new position, Sheldon had been with the Port of Seattle since
1990, working in a number of positions including the Executive Team's
Special Projects Manager, Managing Director of the Seaport Division,
and Director of the Capital Improvement Program in the Aviation
Division. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at Yale
University and a Master's of Science at the University of
Massachusetts.
Congratulations to both Charlie and the Port of Bellingham!

| PORT OF LONGVIEW ADDS INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY |

The Port of Longview, Washington USA seized
the opportunity for future development by purchasing 306 acres of
undeveloped property near the Port's existing facility on the Columbia
River. The acquisition nearly doubles the Port's industrial
property, which was near capacity without remaining
riverfront property available for development.
"The current
zoning and location of the property adjacent to the Columbia River
shipping channel make this property ideal for future marine industrial
development," said Port of Longview Executive Director Ken O'Hollaren.
The channel will soon be able to load ships to depths of 43
feet when the long-awaited Columbia River channel deepening
project is completed this year.
"The Commission has been well
aware that we lack industrial property for expansion and have made this
issue a key placeholder in our new master plan," said Commission Chairman Bob Bagaason on behalf of fellow Commissioners Dan Buell and Darold Dietz.
"With this purchase we are ensuring that we will have the space
to grow and generate benefits for our community for years to come."
