Here are two examples of the outstanding speakers at this year's Mid-Year Conference:

Victor Szabo, Project Manager, Moffatt & Nichol

Victor Szabo is a Structural Engineer and Project Manager with the marine and waterfront design firm Moffatt & Nichol and has worked on various projects throughout the Pacific Northwest, U.S. West Coast, and Pacific Rim.  Victor has over 15 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction supervision of port, marine, transportation, and small craft harbor facilities.  His projects have included container terminals and materials handling facilities, piers and wharves, marinas, ferry terminals, waterfront bulkheads, bridges, and specialized analysis and design of floating concrete pontoon structures.  Victor is also a certified inspection diver, with extensive experience in the underwater inspection of steel, concrete, and timber marine structures.

Jahan Byrne, Business Development and Marketing Executive, Port of Oakland

Jahan Byrne is the marketing and business development representative for the Port of Oakland -- America's fifth-busiest port and the third-largest U.S. West Coast port.  He helps market the Oakland seaport and airport to operators, carriers, and importers and exporters around the world -- providing strategic counsel, outreach, matchmaking, and technical and supply chain advice.  Jahan leads the port's Export Promotion Program to help create operational and strategic advantages for U.S. companies using the Port of Oakland as an export gateway.  With more than 12 years in the maritime industry, he joined the Port of Oakland in 2009.  Previously, he was manager of global brand management and marketing for ocean carrier APL, posted in both Oakland and Singapore.  Earlier in his career, Jahan was a news reporter in Hawaii, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka.

In addition to informative presentations from expert speakers, you'll also experience a special first-hand boat tour aboard the Hoku Nai'a (pictured at right) to see the working Honolulu Harbor in action.  Onboard you'll be treated to authentic Hawaiian cuisine and entertainment as the sun sets over the Pacific

Our Conference venue, the Marriott Ihilani Resort, is a secluded retreat located 20 miles from Honolulu International Airport.  It offers a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere and excellent conference and golf facilities.

Your companion is welcome to join you in Hawaii and participate in a special companion tour on Friday featuring lunch and a tour of Hawaii's Plantation Village, an outdoor history museum that tells the story of life on Hawaii's Sugar Plantations.
