Captain Fredrick Myer, Commanding Officer - Sector Portland, United States Coast Guard
 
Prior to assuming Command of Sector Portland, Captain Myer served as Deputy Commander of U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boston and was responsible for maritime safety
and security in an area encompassing the majority of Massachusetts including all ports, inland waterways, and a coastal zone that extends 200 miles from shore.  He previously served as Chief of Law Enforcement for the Thirteenth Coast Guard District in Seattle, where he oversaw maritime security and law enforcement across four states.  Prior assignments included Kodiak, Alaska; New York, NY; Washington, DC; Port Angeles, WA; and Corpus Christi, TX.  He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering and earned an MBA from Strayer University.

Tammy Dennee, Executive Director, Oregon Wheat Growers League

Tammy Dennee has been employed in the Oregon Wheat Industry for the past 17 years.  In addition to her responsibilities as Executive Director of the Oregon Wheat Growers League, she is the Administrator of the Oregon Grains Commission and Director of the Oregon Wheat Foundation.  Tammy holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration and has obtained nationally recognized certifications as a Certified Meeting Professional and Certified Association Executive. 
She is a member of the Pendleton Rotary Club and serves on the Rotary Foundation Board of Directors.  She also serves on the Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom Board as Vice Chair and Pendleton Progress Board.  In her spare time, Tammy volunteers her time to the Umatilla County Fair as a member of the Board of Directors.

APP PEOPLE: LONG BEACH AND STOCKTON WELCOME NEW PORT COMMISSIONERS
 
The
Port of Long Beach
recently welcomed Thomas Fields, their newest harbor commissioner:

Thomas Fields, a Long Beach advertising executive and former city planning commissioner, was appointed in December 2009 to his first six-year term by Mayor Bob Foster.  He fills the position by the retirement of former board president James Hankla.  Commissioner Fields is the founder and owner of Thomas Fields Associates, a Long Beach marketing and advertising agency. A resident of Long Beach since 1976, he has served on the City's Economic Development Commission, Shipyard Reuse Advisory Committee, Planning Commission, and Redevelopment Agency Board, where he served as Chair.  He has also been a community activist and a member of the city's Ten Year Strategic Plan Committee in 1998-1999.  He now serves as vice president on the inaugural board of directors for the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House.


And the Port of Stockton recently welcomed Victor Mow to their commission:

Victor Mow, a retired lab scientist involved with numerous non-profit agencies, was appointed by the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors to the Port of Stockton Commission in March 2010.  Taking over Robert Kavanaugh's port position, Commissioner Mow recently served eight years on the County Board of Supervisors and eight years on the Stockton City Council. 
Professionally, Mow was a lab scientist for 30 years at San Joaquin General Hospital.  Born in Stockton, Mow is the son of immigrant parents from China.  His father moved to Stockton in the early 1900s, while his mother came in the 1930s.  Mow graduated from Edison High School, attended San Joaquin Delta College, and received his bachelor's degree at University of the Pacific and a Master's Degree in public administration at California State University, Stanislaus.
